This year's campaign draws attention to the growing global burden of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the urgent need for prevention and early detection [1]. What Is Chronic Kidney Disease? The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs located on either side of the spine, just below the rib cage. Their primary function is to filter waste products, excess fluid, and toxins from the blood, which are then excreted as urine.
