Fortunately, most risk factors for cardiovascular diseases are modifiable which include lack of exercise, smoking, and a poor diet. The major risk factor which is hypertension has some modifiable factors likewise. This year on World Heart Day, we’re asking the world to get informed and USE HEART to connect: •Use ❤️ to connect with your ❤️ •Use ❤️ to connect every ❤️ •Use ❤️ to connect people with 💔 •Use ❤️ to beat 💔 Photo credit: World Heart Federation

WORLD LUNG DAY

𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗟𝗗 𝗟𝗨𝗡𝗚 𝗗𝗔𝗬 25𝚃𝙷 𝚂𝙴𝙿𝚃𝙴𝙼𝙱𝙴𝚁, 2021 🅃🄷🄴🄼🄴: 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗴𝘀 The 25th of September is World Lung Day (WLD), a day dedicated to lung health advocacy and action, and an opportunity for us all to come together and promote improved lung health around the world. It is now more crucial than ever to look after our lungs. As a result, we are urging everyone to "care for your lungs" and keep them healthy.  The theme of this year's WLD is "Care for Your Lungs." Regular physical activity, inhaling clean air, being immunized, and stopping smoking are all examples of ways to do this. Respiratory infections wreak havoc on the global health system. We are therefore encouraged to help disseminate the message, with millions of individuals suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, tuberculosis, pneumonia, lung cancer, and more so the millions of deaths reported. WORLD RABIES DAY

𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗟𝗗 𝗥𝗔𝗕𝗜𝗘𝗦 𝗗𝗔𝗬 28𝚃𝙷 𝚂𝙴𝙿𝚃𝙴𝙼𝙱𝙴𝚁, 2021 🅃🄷🄴🄼🄴: 𝗥𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝗿 Misconceptions and misinformation about this disease and how to prevent it has been around for centuries. This year's theme focuses on disseminating facts about rabies rather than instilling fear of the disease.  Facts are critical for increasing public knowledge, preventing, and educating people about rabies, its hazards, and how to avoid it.  People are afraid of vaccination because of rabies myths, and they are afraid to get their animals vaccinated. They also believe in ineffective rabies treatments.  On World Rabies Day, there are a few things you can do:  •Learn facts about rabies, its hazards, and how to prevent it  •Apply the facts you've learnt  •Share the facts with others Photo credit: Global Alliance for Rabies Control

WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY

𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗟𝗗 𝗦𝗨𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗗𝗘 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗗𝗔𝗬 (𝗪𝗦𝗣𝗗) 10𝚃𝙷 𝚂𝙴𝙿𝙴𝚃𝙴𝙼𝙱𝙴𝚁, 2021 🅃🄷🄴🄼🄴: 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 The overall purpose of World Suicide Prevention Day is to create global awareness about suicide prevention. Suicides and attempted suicides have repercussions that affect not just victims, but also families, communities, and nations. Job or financial loss, trauma or abuse, emotional problems , mental and substance use disorders, and others are all associated risk factors for suicide.  This year’s theme is a reminder that there is an alternative to suicide, and it tries to instill confidence and light in everyone; that our efforts, no matter how big or small, can bring hope to those who are struggling. Suicide often can be avoided, and you can play a crucial role in that prevention. You can make a difference in someone’s darkest hour by taking action. The question remains: Is this a positive or negative difference? Photo cr
