The theme encourages individuals to be aware of diabetes mellitus and how to manage it in order to keep short-term and long-term blood glucose levels within acceptable ranges, especially in a world where access to health care, particularly diabetes care, is limited. Diabetes affects one out of every ten adults. Millions of people with diabetes around the world are unable to receive treatment.
