National DNA Day is an opportunity for students, teachers, and the general public to learn more about DNA, genetics, and genomics, the science that determines how people are naturally different. The Human Genome Project was completed in 2003, and the structure of DNA (the double helix) was discovered in 1953, these and the discoveries, research, and scientific breakthroughs that made progress possible are all commemorated on this day.
The purpose of National DNA Day is to provide a chance for students, teachers, and the general public to learn about and celebrate the latest breakthroughs in genetic research, as well as to consider how these advances may impact their lives.
