Also known as World Day of the Boy Child is a day set aside to raise awareness about issues affecting boys. It emphasizes the need for boys to be happy, healthy, and valued in their families and communities. The aim of gender equality is defeated if boys are neglected. Boys, like their female counterparts, deserve to be groomed, nurtured, and protected. If a boy child is ignored or raised with hatred and violence, the effects will live with him and invariably affect those around him.
To protect the boy child from negative influences in society, it is critical to focus not only on the home and school but the community at large. We all have a part to play in instilling excellent values in the boy child. Let them understand that it's alright to be vulnerable, it's normal to express emotions and that you don't have to be strong all of the time just because you're a boy, nor do you have to keep your fears hidden.
Let us lessen the pressure we put on boys and steer them in the right direction.
