Alzheimer’s disease is a lifelong condition that deteriorates one's memory, mental abilities, and capacity for simple tasks. It is a prevalent type of dementia that causes memory loss and the loss of other crucial cognitive abilities severe enough to affect a person's everyday life.
This year's theme is centred on post-diagnosis support for dementia. After being diagnosed with dementia, many things come to mind. The unmet support needs that resulted from this diagnosis demonstrate the importance of providing all-encompassing care for the physical, mental, and social wellness of those who are living with dementia. Only so much can be done by the medical staff. It is up to us to reassure them that they are not alone and to encourage them to find meaning in life despite their condition.
This day aims to combat the widespread stigma associated with dementia related to Alzheimer's and to promote people's awareness of persons in their communities who are suffering from the disease or other forms of dementia. Despite the fact that there are still certain unclear regions in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, any action is better than none.
