Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction brought on by the body's immune system reacting to infection. Although the chances of recovery and survival are better with early diagnosis, there is no guarantee for a favourable outcome. Antibiotic-resistant microbes in particular can make treatment difficult. So, our goal is to prevent infections. World Sepsis Day is an annual event for everyone to help save lives by raising awareness of one of the leading causes of deaths.
As a result, raising awareness mostly involves educating the public on ways to prevent infections, particularly in vulnerable groups (those with underlying chronic illnesses). This includes, among other things, proper personal hygiene, particularly hand hygiene, lifestyle changes (healthy eating and exercise), immunizations, and prompt hospital visits when ill for early diagnosis and treatment.
