The day is observed by medical professionals, public health advocates, exercise specialists, and rehabilitation specialists as back pain incidence and related disability are on the rise globally. This year's theme emphasises spine pain and impairment as a component of the global disease burden, acknowledges the need for access to high-quality, indispensable spinal health services globally, and preventive actions. In under-served neighbourhoods, there is a lack of access to high-quality spine care and rehabilitation, which can lead to irreversible deformity and the inability to work and support one's self and family.
While efforts are made to increase the afflicted population's access to spine care, we should focus on preventing spine-related disorders and enhancing spine health by putting in place some measures, such as:
-Avoid sedentary lifestyle which can result in decreased fitness.
-Maintain good sitting and standing postures, particularly for people who spend a lot of time at a desk. Ergonomic modifications to the working environment to accommodate the employee.
-Sleep on a mattress firm enough to support your weight.
-Keep your weight under control, eat healthy foods, and lead an active lifestyle.
