The goal of this event is to increase public awareness of preterm delivery, the journey that parents and families take, and the methods for taking care of premature infants. This is particularly crucial because preterm birth rates are rising quickly worldwide. Sadly, one of the main causes of death in children under the age of five is complications from premature birth.
The emphasis is on getting neonatal units to help parents connect with their premature kids through touch, especially by holding them skin-to-skin. Skin-to-skin contact popularly known as kangaroo mother care is a very helpful and effective therapy, which is crucial for premature infants. It is not only performed by the mother of the child, fathers are also allowed to carry out skin-to-skin contact. Its use aids in the initiation and maintenance of breastfeeding, the stabilization of vital signs, and the development of healthy microbiota. It is important and should be initiated once the neonate is stable.
