World Cancer Day aims to increase awareness of cancer as a public health concern and to improve efforts to provide access to high-quality screening tests, early detection, treatment, and palliative care. The "close the care gap" campaign aims to raise awareness of the disparities in cancer care and encourage actions to rectify them. This is the second year of this three-year campaign, which calls on like-minded individuals to band together as we forge stronger ties and launch fresh, creative partnerships in the battle against cancer.

We also acknowledge and applaud the developments made in cancer screening programs for early diagnosis and treatment in various nations. Obstacles still stand in our way despite these successes. These include the lack of cancer registries hence poor disease estimation and resource allocation, the low level of health awareness and promotion, the insufficient availability of screening tools and early detection services, and the lack of diagnostic facilities, which not only prolongs the time between diagnosis and treatment but also contributes to the extremely low survival rates. Curative and Palliative treatment is also not frequently offered in various nations.

The emphasis is on evaluating the socioeconomic factors and biases based on age, gender, ethnicity, physical ability, and educational levels, that contribute to disparities in cancer prevention, early diagnosis, treatment and survival. Demand for enhanced action is crucial to raise awareness of cancer, prevent cancer, encourage improvements in diagnosis and treatment, and solve the flaws in the healthcare system. We can combat cancer at all levels by working together and taking action, especially among the underserved populations: health education and adopting healthy lifestyles, getting immunised for vaccine-preventable malignancies, adherence to routine screening tests, and early presentation to the hospital when necessary. We can fill the care gap in the treatment of cancer together.

Formal healthcare personnel who aren’t dressed professionally must protect and defend their professional demeanour. The white coat has long been regarded as a medical doctor’s badge.  Some patients still prefer a white coat, according to various research. Professionalism, identity, and hygiene were among the reasons stated (yet white coats may be a source of, rather than a barrier to cross-infection). While delivering patient care, wearing professional clothes (i.e., a white coat with more formal clothes ) may have a positive impact on trust and confidence-building in the medical encounter. One of the most essential things in instilling a patient’s confidence in the doctors is their appearance. In terms of attire, the white coat was deemed to be the most suitable, followed by surgical scrubs

ROAD TO MASTERS IN THE US

jhsph.edu  ROAD TO MASTERS PROGRAM IN THE US   The first thing is deciding where you want to further your education. For me, I believe the United States stands out for various reasons   1.  Their institutions/universities are among the best in the world 2.  Unlike institutions in the UK, you do not have to pay tuition upfront. In  fact  in my case, I had come to the US, started my program and was way into my program before payment was required to register for courses for next term. I only paid acceptance fee back in Nigeria. 3.  There are scholarships available in most institutions, but they are quite competitive. Do due diligence and research on the institutions you are applying to. This is a link of available scholarships in some institutions.  4.  In lieu of scholarships there are loans available which do not require a co-signer/guarantor  like  Prodigy finance  and  Mpower     Depending on when you are making this decision , I would start from the beginning, so you can pick up f
