One of the major causes of disability and death globally is a traumatic brain injury. Road traffic accidents, slips and falls, assaults, domestic accidents, and sports accidents are some common causes of head injuries. The symptoms can vary from minor cuts to impairment of bodily functions, unconsciousness, and in extreme cases, death. Depending on the severity, some individuals who survive brain injuries face physical disabilities. (mild, moderate, severe).

The purpose of this campaign is to raise awareness of brain injuries as well as to disseminate information on treatment options, including medical, surgical, and rehabilitation measures with emphasis on the need for early presentation. The brain plays a role in how the body as a whole functions. Injury to this important organ can have a negative impact on one's health and well-being, particularly if treatment is delayed.

The theme emphasises that head injury goes beyond just brain damage and includes disruption of numerous bodily processes that will be impacted by the brain injury.

Preventing head injuries is the safest course of action. Some precautions to take include:

-Practise using safety gear like seat belts and helmets when in a car or riding a motorbike

-Avoid driving while intoxicated or using illicit substances

-Falls can be avoided by being aware of our environment and putting away our phones while in motion

-When a head injury does occur, do present to a healthcare facility as soon as possible

NORTH AMERICAN CYSTIC FIBROSIS CONFERENCE (NACFC) 2024

North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference (NACFC) 2024 Day 2 Yet another exciting day at NACFC! I started with an interactive session on some research procedures, which I found helpful for my recruiting work and the data's impact on the population. I learned a lot from the CFTR genetics session, which aligns with one of my research group's projects, and the plenary session on The Journey to Understand and Advance Research in CFRD. I wrapped up the day by networking with colleagues at Johns Hopkins Cystic Fibrosis Center  #nacfc #nacfc2024 #cf #cysticfibrosis

NORTH AMERICAN CYSTIC FIBROSIS CONFERENCE (NACFC) 2024

North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference (NACFC) 2024 Day 3 The past few days at The 38th Annual North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference (NACFC) have been inspiring. I've gained a deeper understanding of CF, CF care, cutting-edge research, and, most importantly, the lived experiences of people living with cystic fibrosis and their families. I am leaving this session with more inspiration to serve people living with CF with my work. Thank you to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for this invaluable opportunity to learn, connect, and be more inspired. #nacfc #nacfc2024 #cf #cysticfibrosis
